MassMu to Exhibit 2015 Heart Gallery

News Release:  Massillon Museum to Exhibit 2015 Heart Gallery

The Massillon Museum will host the 2015 Heart Gallery exhibit, Art with a Heart, in the main lobby from November 24 through December 1. The annual traveling art exhibit organized by Stark County Job and Family Services celebrates National Adoption Month.

The exhibit features 10 portraits by local volunteer artists, who were carefully matched with their subjects to capture the essence of the featured children, who represent all children looking forward to adoption through Stark County Job and Family Services. This year’s gallery includes eight individual portraits of youth ranging in age from 11 to 17, and two sibling group portraits of children ranging in age from two to 11. Each child receives his or her portrait at the time of adoption.

Nancy Jobe, program administrator, JFS Children Services Adoption, Family Resources and Specialized Placement, reports that five million people in the United States share the experience of having been adopted. Annually in this country nearly 125,000 children are adopted. Jobe says the children waiting for adoption and the families who welcome them come in all shapes and sizes. They are from varying economic and educational backgrounds, with different interests and family histories. Children Services strives to carefully match each child with his or her perfect family.

Heart Gallery visitors can also see the Stark County Artists Exhibition; the second-floor exhibition, Fashion Outlaws; the Studio M exhibition, Artwork by the Canton Artists League; Paul Brown: The Professional Years; I Heard It through the Grapevine: The Telegraph and the Civil War; and The Immel Circus.
