The Massillon Museum will celebrate the opening of the annual "Stark County Artists Exhibition" on Saturday, October 9, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a reception for the artists in the main gallery. Award winners will be announced at 8:00 that evening.

The party is free and open to everyone. No reservations are necessary. The exhibition will continue through November 14, 2010.

Present and former Stark County residents and those currently working in Stark County were eligible to enter artwork for the Massillon Museum's juried Stark County Artists Exhibition. All media were considered by the independent jurors—Dave Desimone, Low Life Gallery, Cleveland; Dr. Fred Smith, Professor of Art History, Kent State University; and Joanne Stichweh, Professor Emeritus, Department of Art, Otterbein College. They selected work to be included in the show as well as the awards, which will be announced during the evening.

93 artists submitted 250 drawings, paintings, photographs, sculpture, and more. From those, the jurors chose 71 pieces of artwork by 52 individuals.

The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way, East (Ohio 172) in downtown Massillon. A visit to the Massillon Museum is always free. Call the Massillon Museum at 330-833-4061 or visit www.massillonmuseum.org for more information.
