The public is invited to view The Year of Chris and enjoy refreshments at the exhibition opening on Saturday, January 21, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Fred F. Silk Community Room of the Massillon Museum. The party, which is concurrent with the opening of Another Look at the New Look in the main gallery, is free and open to everyone; no reservations are necessary.
Proceeds from any artwork sold during the Studio M exhibition will be used for the Chris Muller Art Scholarship, which provides assistance for Massillon Washington High School students, on the recommendation of art department head Eric Myers, to attend Massillon Museum art classes.
Muller, who holds a bachelor of ministry and a master of ministry, both summa cum laude, from Andersonville Theological Seminary, is a determined professional with a passion for the arts, education, women’s issues, photography, the outdoors, and adventure. She has earned a BA in management and is pursuing a master of business administration degree, both at Malone University.
Muller is employed by Republic Steel. In addition to being an active Massillon Museum volunteer, she is a member of the Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition, the Ananda Center for the Arts, and Soroptimist International.
“I am seeking to make a difference by sharing my experiences during The Year of Chris, proving that life is not over when you turn fifty,” Muller said. “Life is to be enjoyed!”
Visitors during the dual exhibition opening will also be able to see a historic Fourth Street exhibition in the photography gallery; The Paul Brown Era in the Massillon Tiger Football Gallery; and new acquisitions in the second-floor lobby. Two Civil War displays mark the war’s sesquicentennial and The Immel Circus gallery includes new artwork and costumes surrounding the diorama.
