The public is invited to view The Hilarious Misadventures of Skaggs and enjoy refreshments at the exhibition opening on Friday, December 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fred F. Silk Community Room of the Massillon Museum. The party is free and open to all; no reservations are necessary.
A 1998 graduate of Tuslaw High School, Skaggs worked toward a criminal justice degree at The University of Akron before switching to a degree in fine arts. He creates artwork under the name “Shock Studios,” specializing in digital zombie prints. He also makes fiberglass masks and toys and works with charcoal, acrylic paints, and pen and ink. He has done freelance work for Mezco Toys and CD art for the band The Lurking Corpses.
Growing up on the outskirts of Massillon, Skaggs enjoyed horror movies. That interest blossomed into a fascination with zombie movies, which have become the main focus of his work. He additionally draws inspiration from cherished things from his childhood—video games, Saturday morning cartoons, and comic books.
