Carol Mendenhall
The public is invited to view the artwork and enjoy refreshments at the exhibition opening on Friday, February 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fred F. Silk Community Room of the Massillon Museum. The party is free and open to all; no reservations are necessary.
Mendenhall retired in 2007 after teaching art in Stark County for 35 years. During the last 17 years of career, when she taught at Perry High School, she added many specialized areas of art and advanced placement studio art to the curriculum. In 2001, she became chairman of the visual arts department. She worked with the Massillon Museum every year to have her students’ work included in the Celebration in Art exhibition.
The artist has exhibited her work at The Little Art Gallery in North Canton earned prizes in several shows at Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, and the Ohio Watercolor Society show at the Canton Museum of Art. She was a 2008 inductee into the Stark County Women’s Hall of Fame in the arts category and she has seven times received the “Outstanding Educator” award from Perry High Schools Top 25 Seniors.
Mendenhall’s non-representational contemporary work is predominantly acrylic, though viewers will see some mixed-media works including collage, ink, and organic materials.

The Studio M show may be seen during regular Museum hours, Tuesday through
Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., except when
the Silk Room has been reserved for private functions. A call to the Museum
office can confirm that the exhibit is available for viewing: 330-833-4061.
Studio M enhances the collaboration between the Museum and the community by showcasing the artistic talents of local, regional, and national artists. The series of five-week shows will continue throughout the year, selected by jurors from proposals submitted by artists. Brochures containing guidelines and an application are available by contacting the Massillon Museum at 330-833-4061 or www.massillonmuseum.org.
