Along the Lincoln Highway: Photographs by Andrew Borowiec

The Lincoln Highway opened in 1913 as the first coast-to-coast road designed specifically for automobile travel. A hundred years later, photographer Andrew Borowiec has used it to create a cross-section of America’s diverse landscape, built environment, and social and economic conditions. This exhibition consists of highly detailed color photographs from the first phase of Borowiec’s ongoing project, covering half the states and approximately the first third of the Highway’s 3389-mile trajectory, from New York City through Illinois.
