OPENING RECEPTION for "Driving Forces: The Lincoln Highway Journey"

The Massillon Museum’s Main Gallery will exhibit Driving Forces: The Lincoln Highway Journey from May 30–October 18, 2026. A free public reception will be held on Saturday, May 30, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. No reservations are necessary and all are welcome to attend.

Forged in Motion: The Lincoln Highway in Texture

Join artist Camara “Cam” Goodrich at MassMu for a hands-on mixed media workshop inspired by Ohio’s historic Lincoln Highway on Tuesday, June 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.! Attendees will use heavy texture medium and palette knives only, participants will create a richly layered roadway composition that explores movement, surface, and journey.

This workshop is open to students aged 14 and older. The workshop fee, $30/member and $35/nonmember, includes all supplies. Register via Humanitix or by calling 330-833-4061.

Instax Camera Workshop with artists Shari Wilkins and Tom Hart

Join artists Shari Wilkins and Tom Hart for a two-part photography workshop on Saturdays, July 25 and August 1, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. each date.! Use Instax Mini cameras to shoot outdoor photos of the historic Lincoln Highway.

Share use of provided cameras or bring your own, film will be provided. The workshop fee, $50 ($45 MassMu member) includes all supplies.

Brown Bag Lunch with Dr. Dan Rager, "Ohio's Roads and Thoroughfares"

Join Dr. Dan Rager on Tuesday, July 28, from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. for "Ohio's Roads and Thoroughfares." In this presentation, Dr. Rager will discuss his book Ohio Gateway to America.

Story and Art Time with Massillon Public Library and MassMu

Join us on Friday, July 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to learn about travel at the Massillon Museum with a Massillon Public Library librarian, followed by an art activity with MassMu’s Education Department!

This free program is geared toward ages 2 to 5 with a parent/guardian, but is open to all ages. Registration is required and can be completed via Humanitix or by calling 330-833-4061.

Highway BUY-WAY Yard Sale

Travel the original path of the original Lincoln Highway on August 13, 14, and 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each date visiting yard sales, businesses, and restaurants. Anyone along the Lincoln Highway is welcome to set up a sale.

The Massillon Museum will offer "last chance" items from the OHregionalities shop, and encourages other local businesses and residents to join in. Check the Traveler’s Guide for other stops!

"After Ike" Screening and Q&A with Director Dr. Gregory F. Maassen

Join MassMu on Sunday, October 11, at 2:00 p.m. for a screening of the film After Ike followed by a Q&A session with director Dr. Gregory F. Maassen. More information on the film can be found here

Gregory Maassen is an award-winning documentary filmmaker with over two decades of experience in editing and audio-visual production. His work spans diverse assignments across Asia, Southern Africa, Europe, and the United States, showcasing his ability to tell compelling stories across cultures and contexts.

Gregory earned a Master’s in TV and Film Production at American University (2024) and a PhD in Business Administration (1999). As a Fulbright Scholar, he draws on a rich academic and professional background to bring a unique perspective to his work.
